The same law, five very different risk profiles
A bank's model is a prudential matter; a mine's model is a safety and production matter; a telco's model touches more than sixteen million subscriptions. Each page below carries sourced sector figures, three use cases and the notes a risk committee will ask for.
- 01
Banking
19 banking institutions and 343 supervised institutions in all as at 30 September 2025; three RBZ instruments already speak to AI. Use cases: KYC and AML evidence assembly, credit decision support inside the s.25 boundary, in-country knowledge assistants.
- 02
Mining
Record gold deliveries of 46.7 tonnes in 2025, three quarters of it from small-scale producers; gold was 45.8% of goods exports in March 2026. Use cases: vision at intake and perimeter, predictive maintenance from the historian, grade-control decision support.
- 03
Telecoms
16.4 million active mobile subscriptions and internet penetration at 84.55% by Q4 2025; operators are Tier 4 data controllers by definition. Use cases: network-incident triage, care assistants with entitlement-filtered retrieval, fraud scoring with a human decision.
- 04
Insurance
Short-term insurance revenue of about US$317 million in 2025, 77% in foreign currency; 74% of complaints to IPEC were about claims delays. Use cases: claims triage and extraction, fraud detection, underwriting support with model governance.
- 05
Public sector
A National AI Strategy launched in March 2026 with no statute behind it, a Smart Zimbabwe 2030 plan, and suppliers paid in ZiG. Use cases: correspondence triage, records retrieval, anomaly detection in registries and revenue.
